Your Intuition Is Always Speaking — Are You Listening? | Spiritual Awakening

Many people believe intuition is a special gift possessed by only a select few. But truly, intuition is not reserved for psychics, healers, or spiritual teachers. It is a natural aspect of being human. The challenge is creating the conditions necessary to tap into it.
In episode 593 of Soul Elevation, Kara Goodwin explores why intuitive guidance often feels inaccessible in modern life and how simple shifts in daily habits can help us reconnect with our innate wisdom. Intuition operates through subtle signals that are always available when we learn to slow down and listen, rather than being something mystical or out of reach for the everyday person.
Why Intuition Often Feels Out of Reach
We can block ourselves from receiving intuition simply because we expect it to be a loud command or dramatic revelation. Usually it comes as a quiet nudge, a subtle feeling, a fleeting insight, or a gentle knowing. The problem is that many of us live in environments filled with constant stimulation and distraction, which dulls our ability to connect with the signals we are receiving. Our attention is constantly pulled toward phones, social media, podcasts, television, audiobooks, work responsibilities, and endless to-do lists. While these things are not inherently negative, they create competition for our awareness. When our minds are constantly occupied, the quieter voice of intuition can become difficult to recognize.
In the episode, Kara compares this to trying to hear someone whispering while standing in the middle of a loud concert. The message is being conveyed, but the surrounding noise makes it really hard to receive.
The Body as an Intuitive Messenger
One of the most overlooked and possibly surprising forms of intuition comes through the body itself. The body is an intelligent system constantly communicating with us. Physical sensations, discomforts, and symptoms serve as messages that something needs attention. A headache, for example, may be signaling dehydration, exhaustion, overstimulation, lack of nourishment, or the need for rest and quiet. While there is nothing wrong with addressing our symptoms directly, problems can arise when we repeatedly suppress signals without exploring their deeper meaning. By being curious about what the body may be communicating, we develop a more intimate relationship with our own intuitive awareness.
Our symptoms are not given to us as inconveniences, but as opportunities to listen more deeply to ourselves and understand ourselves better.
We can also create the right environment for blossoming our intuition by giving ourselves space in our day. Spaciousness means intentionally creating moments throughout the day where there is no consumption, no multitasking, and no external input demanding our attention. These moments allow the mind to settle and create an opening where intuitive insights can emerge.
Many people associate intuitive development solely with meditation. While meditation will always be one of the most powerful tools for strengthening intuitive awareness, intuition can flourish through other forms of stillness and spaciousness. Some examples highlighted in this episode include:
- Taking a walk without listening to music, podcasts, or audiobooks
- Driving in silence instead of filling every moment with content
- Sitting quietly for a few minutes with your eyes closed
- Spending time in nature without distractions
- Allowing yourself to daydream rather than constantly focusing on productivity
These things help create the internal environment necessary for subtle guidance to be noticed.
Meditation and Intuitive Development
Meditation, of course, strengthens intuition because it trains the mind to become quieter and more focused. When we meditate regularly, we become more aware of our thoughts and can control them better, rather than us being controlled by them. This increased awareness makes it easier to distinguish between mental chatter, fear-based thinking, and genuine intuitive guidance.
If you struggle with traditional meditation, try this simple exercise. Choose a positive thought and see if you can hold that thought continuously for twenty seconds. If your attention drifts, gently return to the thought. This strengthens mental focus while also creating greater awareness of how often the mind wanders. Over time, this increased awareness supports stronger intuitive perception.
Our modern culture encourages us to maximize every moment. People feel compelled to fill every available moment with information, entertainment, or productivity. But not every moment needs to be optimized. Sometimes the most valuable thing we can do is simply allow ourselves to be present. By stepping away from constant consumption, we create room for reflection, inspiration, creativity, and intuitive insight. You may find what you have thought of as being unproductive actually becomes nourishment for the mind, body, and soul.
Learning to Trust Subtle Guidance
When we begin creating more space in our lives, intuitive messages become easier to recognize. Small impressions that might previously have been overlooked start to stand out more clearly. We become more aware of a feeling of knowing, a sudden insight, a recurring thought, a sensation of energetic expansion or contraction, messages from the body, creative inspiration, or inner guidance. By consistently listening and responding to these signals, our trust strengthens. Over time, intuition shifts from something mysterious and inaccessible into a practical and reliable guide for everyday life.
