Your Ultimate Power: Why You Are the Only Obstacle to Their Control
Honestly, the world can feel incredibly dark, chaotic, and noisy. And for those of us who are going through a spiritual awakening, that experience can become even more intense as we begin to see things that we may not have questioned before.
In episode 634, I share that as awareness expands, we may begin to recognize that many of the beliefs, narratives, and systems we have accepted as simply “the way things are” deserve a closer look. Many on a spiritual awakening path begin questioning what we have been taught about health, safety, government, media, food, society, and even what it means to live a good and fulfilling life.
That awakening can be empowering. Knowledge can give us the ability to make different choices. But there is another side to this process that is important to recognize and harder to recognize when it is happening to us: The more we see, the easier it can become to feel overwhelmed.
We can begin to see patterns of control everywhere. We become increasingly aware of how much influence larger systems have over our choices. We may look at the world and think, “How could I - one person - possibly change any of this?”
That is where awakening can take an unexpected turn. Instead of reclaiming our power, we can inadvertently give even more of our power away by becoming consumed by the very things we are trying to understand.
There is a difference between becoming aware of something and allowing that awareness to consume you, and this is really something to be mindful of. As we awaken and discover information that challenges the mainstream narrative we have accepted, we naturally may begin questioning whether certain systems actually serve us in the ways we have been told they do.
For example, we might start thinking differently about the relationship between the food we consume and our health. Or we might reconsider how much surveillance we are willing to accept in exchange under the premise of safety. These examples point toward a larger question: How much of our lives are we living consciously, and how much are we simply participating because we have been conditioned to believe that this is how life works? We are born into a system no one seems to question, which makes it difficult to even think to question if the way we live is actually to our benefit - or benefits someone else entirely.
But if we become fixated on the power we believe other people or institutions have over us, something interesting can happen. We can become more knowledgeable while simultaneously feeling less powerful. We start thinking the deck is stacked against us. We begin believing that whatever is happening is too big, too entrenched, or too powerful for an individual to change. And that sense of hopelessness can become its own form of bondage.
Reclaim your power by withdrawing your energy
Reclaiming your power does not necessarily mean fighting everything you disagree with or spending all of your energy trying to expose what is wrong with the world. Sometimes reclaiming your power means withdrawing your attention.
Our attention is SO powerful. Our energy follows our attention, and our intention directs where that energy goes.
If we spend every waking moment consuming frightening information, monitoring what is happening, arguing with people, and trying to understand everything that is wrong with the world, we may be unknowingly feeding the very reality we are trying to move beyond. We become entrapped by the feeling of powerlessness and that becomes its own prison.
But there is another option. We can become discerning without being consumed. And we can choose where we place our energy.
Perhaps you become more intentional about what you eat, growing some of your own food, supporting local farmers, participating in a co-op, or simply becoming more conscious about what you are purchasing.
You might feel called to be more thoughtful about the information you consume and ask yourself whether it leaves you feeling empowered or powerless. Maybe you begin questioning assumptions you have carried your entire life or take greater responsibility for your health decisions, your relationships, your environment, and the way you spend your time.
The way you reclaim your power may be different from the next person. The deeper shift, however, is internal. You begin moving from unconscious participation to conscious choice and noticing what is actually aligned with you.
The power of consciousness
Ultimately, the awakening process is about consciousness. You are consciousness, and consciousness flows through everything. When you begin connecting more deeply with yourself beyond the physical identity you have been conditioned to inhabit, you experience your own power differently.
You may look at your life and think you do not have enough money, influence, connections, or reach to make a difference. But consciousness does not necessarily operate according to those physical aspects of life. Consciousness relates deeply to your intention, energy, and vibration. This means, the way you move through the world is paramount.
When you cultivate a coherent, loving, elevated state within yourself, that state influences the reality you experience and the people around you. It then ripples outward in ways you may never even see directly. And so, your spiritual awakening is really less about discovering all the things that are wrong with the world than it is about remembering who you are and envisioning the world you want to call forward.
I understand the tendency during awakening to become fascinated with everything that appears dark, hidden, or corrupt. We should absolutely question what we are being told. We should not blindly accept narratives simply because they are familiar or widely repeated.
But if our new awareness of the underbelly of reality leads us into constant anxiety, hopelessness, and the belief that we have no power, then we have lost something essential along the way. Be mindful of your awakening leading you into existential hopelessness.
Focus on becoming more conscious, sovereign, and remembering you have agency and choice. You don't have to give your energy to everything that demands your attention.
Where your thoughts go, energy flows
Be conscious of where you place your attention. Where your thoughts go, energy flows. Where your intention goes, energy follows.
If you continually focus on what you fear, what you oppose, what you believe is being done to you, and how impossible everything seems, you are reinforcing that energetic reality within yourself.
Instead, ask yourself what you want to create. What kind of world do you want to live in? What kind of relationships do you want? What kind of health do you want to experience? What kind of community do you want to participate in? What kind of consciousness do you want to embody?
The changes happening in the world can feel enormous. It can seem as though humanity is being pulled in completely different directions. But we don't have to understand every piece of what is happening in order to participate in the shift.
We can begin with ourselves, be more conscious of our choices, reclaim our energy, question what we have been conditioned to accept, and cultivate greater connection with Source, with consciousness, and with our own deeper nature.
We can choose to focus our intention on the reality we want to create rather than becoming consumed by the reality we want to leave behind.
Remember your power.
You don't have to fight everything or understand everything. You don't have to give your energy to everything that is happening around you. You can choose to withdraw your attention from what no longer serves you and bring your energy back to yourself. You can connect with your highest intention and from that place, begin creating.
