Live - routines
[00:00:00]
Speaker: Hello and welcome to the Soul Elevation Podcast, guiding your ascension to new heights. I'm your host, Kara Goodwin, and I'm excited to be with you today, which is Monday, May 5th, 2025. I wanna talk about. Routines and habits and whether these help our ascension or if they actually get in the way. And like most things, I believe there's not a definitive yes or no.
It's not a an either or, but we do wanna be mindful of the balance because it can be easy to be pulled along by life one way or the other. And not really stop to consider if there is another way that we may be able to help ourselves from a spiritual perspective. So [00:01:00] when we think about habits and routines, they can be helpful.
We do need some discipline on the spiritual path because when we make a point of doing something repeatedly. Then it's easier for, easier for us to remember to do it. We also gain momentum, so meditation is a really important part of my daily routine and it helps me to start the day with meditation whenever I can.
I. And that helps me for many reasons. One reason is when I have, when I do get into a meditative state, before I've had time to really start engaging with the world, checking my email, and kind of picking up where yesterday left off. It helps me to kind of meditate in a clean slate and not have the buildup of regular human life get in the way.
It can be harder for me to sort of get into that sense [00:02:00] of being a soul and transcending this human body. It's not so much transcending, I don't necessarily. Wanna use that word, but that connection with myself beyond the human body, which I guess is kind of transcending, but transcending sometimes I think of as escaping.
And so it's not so much like, let me get out of this human life, but let me get beyond this human life. Like remember who, who I really am. But I find that, so one of the reasons that I like to meditate. As early as I can in the morning or first thing in the morning is because I can get into that state easier when I have not.
Piled on human stuff. My, my chores, my to-do lists, my worries, my, you know, whatever it might be. That's not gonna be helpful for a meditative state. But the other part is the habit. [00:03:00] You know, I, I. Have a habit of doing meditation in the morning. It's, I'm used to it. I expect it. So it's not something that I have that I often forget, um, because it's something that is so ingrained into my routine.
So that's really, really helpful because meditation's really important to me because it does support my, the spiritual aspect of my life. It supports me expressing and experiencing myself as spirit and not just human. I get. I get all the hours of my waking life to experience myself as human. It's really, really easy for me to experience myself as human.
I'm very ingrained in the human experience. I don't live in a cave in the Himalayas. Um, where it can be easier to. You know, consider yourself as a spirit as you are walking through your day because you're very much, your life is organized in such a way that it's easier to remember. Perhaps I [00:04:00] don't have that experience, but I can imagine.
But we wanna, so we. When we're in a habit, when we're in a routine, it can also be easy, easier for us to get, to some extent, to be in a flow so we can kind of be moving through our routine and just feeling like we're in this flow because we don't have to put a ton of thought into what am I forgetting to do?
What's the next thing I need to do? You know, we kind of can take that guesswork out and just sort of flow. The risk and the thing that we wanna think about when it comes to the the Ben, all the benefits of having habit and routine is the stagnation. So when we are so entrenched in routine and we're so locked into, this is how I do my day, or this is how I do my morning, or this is how, you know, I don't always do this [00:05:00] first and then I do this.
Is that we can get removed from our life. We can kind of be moving through our lives just like an auto bot, right? Like a, like a robot. Um, where we're. You know, we, we just are allowing ourselves to continuously, repetitively live the same day each day. And it becomes a little bit like Groundhog Day. And we can even do this in our spiritual practice.
Um, I know I've experienced this when I was very. Um, like it was early in my days of meditating, but you know, I learned a specific method and there was step one, step two, step three, and, and that was important for that time again, to just get familiar with meditation, get a sense for it, kind of know what to expect, and to not have to think about it so hard.
Um, that was very beneficial. But I did get to a point where. [00:06:00] It didn't really light my fire anymore because it was always the same and it just got dry, honestly. And so I had to learn to open myself up to flexibility and not be so rigid so that I could. Have the freshness and the new inspiration, and to feel really authentically, organically feel the connection with my soul.
And it's the same thing when you think about your day. If you're very, very rigid about all of the way that you live your life, you have to kind of step back and question, are you really living your life or are you behaving more like a robot? When we're dealing with energy, vitality, chi, life force, prana, it is fresh.
It is ever changing, it's ever new. And in order to [00:07:00] really experience that, we need to make space for it to come in. And that is a dynamic process if we are so rigid in how we live our lives. Then we're closing ourselves off from what life is inviting us to do and experience. Because it may be that there are opportunities that come through because we are opening ourselves up to new and some, and an example of this just came to mind, so.
Last week, I often, I will, if I need to go to the grocery store, I go in the morning. I, I don't particularly enjoy going to the grocery store. I don't look forward to it. So it's one of those things where it's like, well, if I can just kind of get that outta the way early, then it's not hanging over my head.
So that's normally how I do it. But, um, but last week at some point, I can't remember, Thursday or Wednesday something. [00:08:00] It was afternoon and I just had this really, really busy day and I had kind of thought that I'd get away without going to the grocery store that day. And all of a sudden, just in the early afternoon, I was like, no, I really do need to go to the store.
And I thought to myself, um, which of these two stores that I frequent the most do I wanna go to? And I didn't really have any particular reason to go to one over the other. In fact. There was one store that had some things that I can't get anywhere else that I thought about going to. And then the other one is like the store that, yeah, I might be able to find it at this other place that's gonna be more expensive.
So I, I like to get these couple of items at this other store because I know it's gonna be considerably less expensive. So I was really like, it was just up to me. Which, which one do I feel like going today? So I choose this one particular store. And which from a shopping perspective is [00:09:00] my less preferable experience.
I don't enjoy the store, I enjoy the other store a little bit more than this store. But anyway, so I am whipping through the store as quickly as I can and I get to the, the back of the store and a friend from high school was there. And I like, I can't remember the last time I saw this person in person. We were friends on Instagram, so we have, in fact, she had recently bought my book.
So we had been in touch on Instagram over that because she was sharing kind of that she had enjoyed it. And um, but I haven't seen this person, she doesn't live in my city. And so it was very, very strange to see her suddenly. And it was, this is a big store. It's one of those big box stores. And so I could very easily be in that store and I'm sure there have been times where I've been in that store and I have [00:10:00] known people in that are in that store and they're in another part of the store and I never see them because it's just this huge store.
So, um. I was like, oh my God. And so we just caught up for, you know, a, a while in the supermarket. I was like, oh my gosh. And she said, I can't remember the last time I came to the store. And also, she's not from the city. She was in town for an appointment. And so she thought, well, I'll just quickly run in the store that she never goes to.
And I said, oh yeah. I mean, I come here, but I never come in the morning. I mean, I always come in the morning and I, um. I, I didn't even think I was gonna come today. And then I happened to come at an unusual time for me, and I happened to see this person I haven't seen in years, maybe decades. No, no, not decades, but years, many years.
Um. So it was such [00:11:00] a, a pleasant surprise to see her, and it really did feel like, okay, I'm just, I was just letting myself be in the flow. I was just responding to the moment of when I decided to go and I had, I had kept that space open. It wasn't like I had gotten to 10:00 AM or 11:00 AM and been like, Nope, I don't go to the store after this time.
So we wanna think about. Our rigidity and you know, I know that's just a small example, but this applies to everything. You know, you, if you think about your life, if you're very routine oriented, think about how you may have constructed your life in such a rigid way that the universe has to work really, really hard.
To, um, to offer new things to you because you keep locking yourself into who you were [00:12:00] yesterday. And the truth is, you are energy and I am energy. And everything is energy. We have this solid mass, we are this solid being, but really the truth is that we are energy. And energy is fluid. Well, liquid is fluid, I know.
But, um, energy changes and it adapts, and we, the universe is continuously offering a new experience to you. But it requires your openness and your flexibility, and you may feel that you are open-minded, and that's great, that that is very, very important. Um, that's a big part of the equation is to have that open-mindedness, to have that expanded nature where.
The universe can come in and offer new things to you, but another thing that you may not think about in that openness is how your routines may be so fixed [00:13:00] that the universe has a hard time in infusing something new into it. So my invitation to you is to just. Connect with your routine. Notice your routine.
Think about it. Bring it into your awareness. Don't be something, don't let life be something that you are just repeating over and over and, and notice how you feel. Like notice if you feel a little bit bored generally. If you're feeling a little bit dry, if your spiritual practice maybe feels a little bit routine and, and not so, like maybe you're not getting as much from it.
Again, I've had that experience before where I. It just wasn't really lightened my fire and that was I, I don't have that experience very often, actually. I haven't had that experience in a very long time. But that experience I do [00:14:00] know I was having when I was part of a spiritual organization that was very rigid in how they.
Taught and expected people to meditate. They, they were this, you know, they very much adopted, this is how you meditate. This is the quickest path to God. This is how you're going to connect with your higher self. And it is, it was a powerful meditation. But it was so closed and there wasn't really room to insert new things, and they didn't encourage you to insert different, um, aspects of meditation.
And it did become dry. It became like, I would go through the motions, but I would find myself thinking quite a bit, you know, it was like I'd, I'd sort of. Do their, their practices. But all the while I'm kind of figuring out what I want to make for dinner and if I, you know, what I'm gonna be doing that [00:15:00] day.
And I still struggle with that, honestly, from, you know, that's still something that will crop in. I'll, I, I will notice myself when I'm meditating, like, oh my goodness, I'm so in my head right now. Um, so that, that's just something that is a part of meditation, but. If you're feeling like you know you don't wanna meditate or you don't wanna do your spiritual practices because you don't really feel like you're getting much out of them, then I would really encourage you to take a look at if it's become so mechanical and you're really not.
Not feeling that heart connection because it's just become this thing of, first I do this, then I do this, then I do this, and you kind of like, you're, you're just sort of over it and maybe you don't, you haven't recognized or you're not being honest with yourself about that. And there are so many different kinds of ways to meditate, so many different practices that you can, um, insert into your meditation that.
You, you know, [00:16:00] if you're willing to open yourself up and be flexible, there's a lot out there for you. So I want to, speaking of meditation, I have a brand new meditation free meditation offering that you can get on kara goodwin.com. Kara is spelled with A-K-K-A-R-A-G-O-O-D-W-I n.com. This is a new earth meditation.
So this is a meditation to help you connect with the future with a higher reality, with a higher vibrational reality. And this is a really, really important, um, meditation for those who are very passionate about bringing in. A higher reality and understanding the role of consciousness in our reality and how we can shape we are very, very powerful and we can shape the future.
And so this gives you the personal power to bring [00:17:00] in a, a better, uh, higher vibrational reality. And the more of us who are doing things like this and who have this vision are holding this vision for this potential, this beautiful reality that's out there, that is out there energetically, the more of us that are, that are bringing it into our awareness and magnetizing it into this reality, the more we are bringing that to us, the more we.
Make space for this reality to show up, and then the universe configures itself in such a way that it delivers it. You know, it's not really our responsibility to figure out. The how do we get from here to there? Our responsibility is to say, well, where is there? And let's bring that in. And then the universe does it.
And so I, I, I ask you, please go and [00:18:00] download this free meditation. Let us work together to collectively, to, to unify and to bring in this new earth. And then I will also let you know. I have a powerful workshop that's coming up on May 29th. It's a Thursday from six to nine, six to 8:00 PM Eastern, and it'll be recorded.
You'll have ACC lifetime access to the recording, but we're going to go deep into, um, your own is really the focus of it is clearing, distortion and bringing in your true. Resonance your true energy signature, so you can find more about that@caragoodwin.com. Um, I think that the, I think it's, it's under Workshop Energy Reset Workshop, maybe in the, in the menu.
But please join me for that and get your free. [00:19:00] Um, new Earth meditation and thank you so much for joining this re, this YouTube live, or if you're listening on the audio, uh, many, many blessings. Have a wonderful week and I'll see you next time.
