Dream Travel, Soul Purpose & Multidimensional Awakening with Robert Moss
What an honor it was to sit down with legendary dream teacher and bestselling author Robert Moss in episode 457 of Soul Elevation. Robert is a master storyteller and wisdom-keeper whose lifelong relationship with dreams has led him to create a whole modality called Active Dreaming, a fusion of modern dreamwork, shamanic journeying, and imagination training.
I’ve been immersed in one of Robert’s Shift Network courses recently, and it’s been truly activating. My dreams have become more vivid, layered, and meaningful than ever before. In this episode, we dive deep into the power of dreams as portals to multidimensional realities, and what it means to become a conscious dream traveler.
From Near-Death to Dreamwalker
Robert shared the remarkable story of how he died and came back to life twice as a child, once at age 3 and again at age 9. During one of these experiences, he lived what felt like an entire lifetime on another world, only to be jolted back into his child body. That experience shattered any illusion that this physical world is all there is.
Through these early experiences, Robert came to understand firsthand that dreams are not just fantasies or random brain activity. They are real experiences, often happening in real worlds beyond the physical. They’re opportunities to explore the multiverse, reconnect with soul, receive healing, and even meet guides, ancestors, and future selves.
Dreaming as a Tool for Soul Retrieval & Collective Healing
One of the most captivating parts of our conversation was Robert’s relationship with a Mohawk woman from 250 years ago—a real historical figure who first came to him in a dream. Through ongoing contact with her in the dreamscape, he was able to uncover verifiable historical information about her life and even collaborate with her in writing a novel and bringing forward ancestral wisdom.
This isn’t just metaphor or imagination. For Robert, dreams are living portals where we can connect with other timelines, other lives, and other levels of ourselves. His historical and journalistic background only deepens the richness of these experiences because he researches and confirms what he sees in dreams. He’s found that dreams can help us re-member soul fragments, retrieve wisdom across timelines, and even aid our ancestors in their healing. More here:
The Lightning Dreamwork Technique
I got to experience firsthand Robert’s famous Lightning Dreamwork process during our conversation. I shared a recent dream involving multiple passports, hidden compartments, and a mysterious gatekeeper, and Robert walked me through interpreting it in real time.
Using four simple steps—title, feelings, reality check, and action plan—we explored how dreams can reflect expired identities, soul invitations, and inner guidance. It was so illuminating to have Robert gently guide me through the dream and help extract deeper insights and practical next steps. His approach is empowering, fun, and deeply wise.
Dreaming as Survival and Ascension
Robert emphasizes that dreaming is not just a spiritual luxury or a “nice to have”—in many indigenous cultures, dreams were (and still are) crucial for survival. Dreamers locate herds, guide the tribe, warn of danger, and receive healing protocols.
And for those of us in more modern, Western contexts, he pointed out that even though we may not be facing physical starvation, many of us are spiritually malnourished, stuck in soul loss, or out of alignment with our true purpose. Dreams can serve as a direct line to our soul, and when honored, they bring back vitality, clarity, and creative power. He talks more about that in this clip:
The Secret Wish of the Soul
One of the most profound concepts Robert shared is from the Huron tradition: the word “ondinnonk,” which means “the secret wish of the soul, especially as revealed in dreams.”
What if our dreams are constantly showing us what our soul truly desires?
And what if the ache we feel in daily life is because we’ve been ignoring that soul wish?
Dreams are not just stories. They are messages, missions, and maps from the deeper self. When we honor the dream, we align with our path—and when we neglect it, we drift.
